Islandeady community summer festival

The festival takes place over this August Bank Holiday weekend. To start off the festivities there will be a family fun evening today. Saturday will start with a fun 7K walk/run. An Taoiseach Enda Kenny will open the rural heritage day and there will also be a fun table-quiz, boat trips organised on Bilberry Lake after the Cemetery Mass, and an action packed sports day in the GAA grounds. The festival finale will be a traditional music night in Jacks Old Cottage.

Islandeady Summer Festival

Plans are at an advanced stage for the 2012 summer festival in Islandeady, which proved to be a great success last year and will take place over the August bank holiday weekend (August 3 to 5) Celebrations will commence on Friday evening with a family evening and barbecue at the Key West. Saturday morning there will be a fun walk in the centre of the parish, a heritage day in the afternoon at Jack’s Cottage followed by a table quiz in the Halfway House on Saturday night. Sunday morning at 11am mass will be celebrated in the graveyard, followed by boat trips on the beautiful Bilberry Lake and Sunday afternoon there will be a big family sports day at the GAA pitch (fun for all the family). To close the weekend there will be a Barn Dance held in Jacks Cottage.
