GMIT’s Dr Seamus Dowling, lecturer in Cybersecurity at GMIT Mayo, has been awarded the Fulbright Ireland TechImpact Scholarship.

Recently appointed Cool Planet Champion, Bernard Joyce, will give a lunchtime presentation on how climate change is impacting on us and how best we can respond here in Mayo. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, February 19 in Room P002 from 1pm to 1.45pm.

A group of students and staff from James Madison University, Virginia, USA, are due to arrive in Mayo today, Friday June 9 to take part in a summer study programme in collaboration with Lifelong Learning at GMIT Mayo, UCC and Waterways Ireland. The US group of three faculty members and 14 students majoring in biology, theatre and communications, are researching the cultural and environmental impact of water on our lives. To celebrate International Women’s Day, staff and graduates of GMIT Mayo recently held a women’s history seminar in association with the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life. The seminar was chaired by Dr Deirdre Garvey, GMIT Mayo head of campus, and it was designed to showcase research on women’s history that is ongoing in GMIT Mayo.
