Case against Ballyhaunis farmer struck out following evidence
Judge Mary Devins struck out a case against a 69-year-old retired man who was detected driving a car without insurance, driving licence, tax, or NCT after hearing evidence from the owner of the car. Judge Devins had adjourned the case on October 6, after Garda Shane Cuffe told the court that he stopped Tom Leneghan, 12 Station Rise, Ballyhaunis, driving a car on the Knock Road, Ballyhaunis, at 4.05pm on May 11 2009. The court was told that Leneghan was a 69-year-old retired man who helped out a cattle dealer friend and never drove himself. He had got a call from the owner of the car to come and help him as there was a cow stuck in a drain and the owner told him to take the car.
