A documentary about the infamous Roscommon executioner ‘The Ballad of Lady Betty’ will be premiered on Athlone Community Radio on Saturday, November 18, at 6pm, and replayed on Monday November 20, at 1pm.

Theatre returns to Claregalway again this week with the annual Claregalway Festival of Drama which commences this Saturday March 11 and will see eight of the country’s top amateur drama groups compete for qualification to the All Ireland finals in Athlone and Glenamaddy.

She was a saint who quickly became a surrogate mother to every child that entered her classroom, walked them up and down the clós during sosanna, and prepared them for whatever was ahead.

Máire Ní Mhaoilchíaráin, the 2015 Sean-Nós Singer-in-Residence at NUI Galway, will give a series of sean-nós singing workshops beginning at 7pm, Wednesday, 30 September, in the Seminar Room at the Centre for Irish Studies, NUI Galway.
