A new version of the BMW 1 Series is set to make its way to Ireland later this year, but without the option of a diesel engine.

The all-new BMW 5-series (i5) will break cover shortly. It is being built in Germany. The all-electric 5-Series will be launched in October, going on-sale in Europe soon after, so possibly available here in right-hand drive from the year-end. The all-new i5 will target competitors such as the Mercedes EQE, Tesla Model S, and Audi E6.

BMW tells us that the new BMW 3 Series is now available to order and should arrive here after the summer.

Fleet managers in the UK have voted the BMW 5 Series New Company Car of the Year, while BMW has been named Fleet Manufacturer of the Year at the biggest ever Fleet News Awards ceremony.

BMW's long expected new 5-Series is here. It is a mid-life or face-lifted version to keep fresh and as popular as the out going versions. And the entry-level diesel version is the 143 bhp 518d SE with a price tag of €43,380.

The new 3 Series saloon went on sale in Ireland recently with prices starting at €35,600 on the road for a 316d ES. In all cases the standard specification of the car has been significantly enhanced.

BMW will expand the 6 Series range to three models in June 2012 with the introduction of the Gran Coupé.
