Bishops in the west of Ireland have been re-assured that the Council for the West will continue to lobby for employment creation throughout the region.

The death took place yesterday (Thursday) of the retired Archbishop of Tuam, Dr Joseph Cassidy, aged 79. His death was announced by Archbishop of Tuam Michael Neary.

The Archbishop of Tuam Dr Michael Neary launched “Guidelines for Pastoral Councils – Treoirlínte do Chomhairlí Tréadach” in the McWilliam Park Hotel Claremorris last week. The guidelines are published in both English and Irish and consist of a 16-page booklet outlining the purpose, vision and term of office of pastoral councils.
