The Mayo Green Party has strongly criticised bus and train services in the West of Ireland. The party has highlighted the case of Paul Lynch, a research worker recently employed by the Sustainability Institute. Mr Lynch, who was carrying out important research into renewable energy in Mayo, recently set off back to his home town of Macroom in Co Cork by bicycle.
Former Green member to stand as independent
Former Mayo Green Party member Andy Wilson has announced his intention to stand as an independent candidate in the forthcoming council elections. Mr Wilson, who works as an energy consultant and is editor of Sustainability Journal, says he has absolutely no faith in the ability of the mainstream political parties to get to grips with the economic catastrophe facing Ireland.
