Close to 15,000 visitors descended on Cillín Hill for the 2011 Sheep and Wool Festival, making it one of the most successful Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships ever.

Rural enterprises nationwide are being encouraged to showcase their goods and services, boost their revenue and create jobs in their local communities by supporting an upcoming international festival which will have a captive audience of 15,000 at Ireland’s biggest ever sheep and wool event.

The money collected at the tolling booth on fair days in Callan in the first half of the twentieth century went towards funding the many important services administered by the Town Commissioners.

KILKENNY and the south east region is in line for a multi-million euro revenue boost as it hosts the Clik Pour On All Ireland and International Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships as part of Ireland’s biggest sheep and wool festival.
