New €446,000 Community Climate fund launched in Galway City
Galway City Council is now accepting applications for a new Community Climate Action fund for community groups to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and help decarbonise the city. The funding will support small (up to €20,000), medium (€21,000-€50,000), and large-scale (€51,000-€100,000) community climate action projects in five key theme areas: community energy; travel; food and waste; shopping and recycling; and local climate and environmental action.

At the instigation of Minister Murphy, a Covid-19 Community Response Forum has been put in place for Galway City, co-ordinated by Galway City Council as required. The purpose and role of the Forum which includes over a dozen agencies, organisations and community and voluntary groups is to lead the co-ordination of COVID-19 community supports and resilience and to ensure that there is a co-ordinated community response, enabling all the voluntary and statutory agencies to collaborate in support of our communities and particularly our most vulnerable members.
