Man admits stealing valuable musical equipment

A man pleaded guilty to two charges of theft at the last sitting of Kilkenny District Court.

James Houlihan with an address at Nine-Mile-House, Tipperary admitted stealing a kango worth €1,000 from a private individual in Callan on June 12, 2007 and stealing two guitars worth €3,300 from Scruffy Duffy’s Bar on June 13, 2007.

Defendant’s solicitor John Harte told the court that he had difficulties with drink and drugs and that he had ‘little recollection of what happened.’ Mr Harte added that ‘his client accepted his part in the caper’ and was pleading guilty to the charges before the court.

Judge William requested a probation report and asked that the defendant’s suitability for a community service order be assessed before adjourning the case until June 2.
