Kilkenny No Name Club is inviting all hosts and hostesses from the past 30 years to a celebratory reunion dinner and themed disco in the Newpark Hotel on Friday, March 20 at 7.30pm. The special evening will see presentations made to founders Eamonn Doyle, Fr Tom Murphy, and Kilkenny hurling legend Eddie Keher. They began the organisation 30 years ago after identifying a need for social activities for young people as an alternative to the pub culture scene.
Founded in Kilkenny in 1978, No Name Club has now grown to become Ireland’s national voluntary organisation providing alcohol and drug free entertainment activities for young people. Since its inception, Kilkenny No Name Club has seen more than 1,500 hosts and hostesses volunteer with the club, developing the club’s activities to meet the needs of successive generations of young people.
“We are hosting our special reunion celebration this year to honour the invaluable contribution, creativity, and energy that Kilkenny’s No Name Club hosts and hostesses have brought to young people in Kilkenny over the past 30 years,” said Shane Doyle, Kilkenny No Name Club and son of founder Eamonn Doyle. “No Name Club has grown from strength to strength and we hope many of the club’s past hosts and hostesses will be able to join us for our celebratory evening."
