Did you attend the Kilkenny School Project National School? Do you want to take a walk down memory lane, catch up with old friends and relive the happiest days of your life! If the answer is yes, then we are looking for you!
Now celebrating the 21st anniversary of Kilkenny’s, “Educate Together” school, past pupils are invited to reminisce with childhood friends at a past pupil reunion on Friday, May 1, 2009.
The KSP opened its door on September 1, 1987, with only 78 students in rented accommodation, presenting parents with an alternative choice for their children’s primary education.
The school was established, with the approval of the Minister for Education, by a group of parents who recognised the demand for a co-educational, multi-denominational school under parental control. All religious and non-religious backgrounds have equal right of access and the social, religious and cultural background of each child is celebrated through a special curriculum of social, civic and moral education.
Twenty-one years later, the KSP has found a permanent home on the Waterford Road, it boasts over 250 students and achievements that include publishing the KSP Children’s Cookbook, composing and recording a CD and receiving the Green Flag Award by An Taisce.
The Past Pupils reunion will take place on May 1 alongside the schools annual May Day celebration to mark the beginning of summer. Past Pupils are invited to visit the school between 4pm and 6pm to catch up with classmates at a barbecue.
Later that evening, past pupils can unwind together with drinks and canapé at one of Kilkenny’s hot spots, starting at 8pm.
For full details on the reunion and to register for updates, check out KSP Past Pupils on Facebook and Bebo or e-mail ksppastpupils@gmail.com. Alternatively, contact Past Pupils c/o KSP, Waterford Road, Kilkenny.
