Kilkenny furniture store closes its doors

Classic Furniture store which is based on Green Street has confirmed that Kieran Wallace of KPMG has been appointed as receiver to the company following a request from the directors of the company.

A statement to the Kilkenny Advertiser says that this request was as ‘a result of pressures the business was facing from various creditors, including landlords’.

The receiver is working with the company in an attempt to try to ensure that all customer deposits are honoured.

Classic Furniture, established in 1986, has been a leading supplier of quality household furniture across Ireland. It established a retail chain of stores and currently operates seven retail outlets nationwide; Navan, Kilkenny, Sligo, Blanchardstown, the Kylemore Road, Coolock, and Carrickmines.

Two stores, Sligo and Navan, have been closed with immediate effect, and all others will continue to remain open for business over the next few weeks as the receiver assesses the situation.
