There will be a special treat for children and parents on Friday 20 and Tuesday, February 24 when MacDonagh Junction hosts Odlums pancake parties. The pancake days are part of a series of midterm events for children taking place at the centre.
Odlums pancake parties are taking place throughout Ireland in aid of the National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght.
The first pancake party in the shopping centre will take place on Friday 20 from 12-3pm with award winning chef Michael Thomas from Fleva cooking the pancakes. Ollie the Owl from Odlums will also make an appearance. On Tuesday February 24 Eugene Mc Sweeney another award winning chef, will cook the pancakes from 11-2pm. The timing coincides with the baby boogie.
MacDonagh Junction will also host a series of midterm entertainment events for children including Little Athletics, Fit Kids, a magic show and a Kilkenny SPCA colouring competition.
Michael Thomas, head chef at Fleva, is a native of Loughboy in Kilkenny. He has held positions at various top class establishments including head chef in Lacken House, and senior chef in the “2 AA Rosette” Lady Helen Restaurant in Mount Juliet. He has also worked in the famous Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. Michael returned to Fleva in April 2008. He has won various awards during the years including gold and silver from the Culinary Olympics in 2000 and four bronze medals from Hotel Olympia in London 2006. Eugene Mc Sweeney is the owner of Lacken House.
