Businesses get 15 minutes’ grace in parking fees

Business people in the city are to benefit from a fifteen minutes grace period when they park their car on the street following a decision by the council this week.

Members of the council had strongly campaigned in favour of the ‘grace period’ which had to be considered by the executive.

The members learned at Monday’s night’s meeting of the council that their representations had not fallen on deaf ears and that the council was prepared to give business people fifteen minutes free parking on the streets in the city where on-street parking charges were in operation, giving people the opportunity to park close by for short periods of time.

Brian Tyrell told the members that the ‘grace time’ would be patrolled by the traffic warden.

The 15minutes’ free parking will also apply across the board.
