Popular music, DVD and game shop Zavvi, has closed down at MacDonagh Junction in Kilkenny leaving many music-lovers disappointed.
Its sister store in Arklow Co Wicklow also closed yesterday with the loss of twenty-five jobs collectively.
The provisional liquidator of the troubled music and entertainment chain made the decision to close the two outlets yesterday.
Some 17 outlets were also shut down in the UK yesterday by Ernst & Young with an overall loss of 267 jobs.
The group’s remaining 31 outlets will continue to trade and Ernst and Young have said that they remain hopeful a sale of some or all can be achieved.
