Music fans will be saddened to hear of the passing of Kilkenny- based folk singer, John Martyn.
The renowned musician was living in Kilkenny with his partner Theresa.
Born on September 11, 1948 John took the music world by storm and will be sorely missed by many.The Scottish singer-songwriter was regarded as a musical innovator, famed for fusing folk and jazz styles - he had been resident in County Kilkenny for the last number of years.
He continued to write and record up until recently, and performed concerts from a wheelchair in latter years, after losing a leg to septicaemia in 2006.
