Final nights of Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots is bringing down the Community Hall in Castlecomer this week as the Deenside Players delight the audience with their annual pantomime.

Under the watchful eye of director John Coogan, the cast which includes almost 70 spectacular young dancers and singers, has been entertaining the masses every night since Tuesday. There is nobody safe from the acid tongue of Dame Delia (John Coogan ), this year although it is her poor son Sammy (Cubby Brennan ) who suffers most of her wrath.

Katie Brennan has been playing a blinder this year as the princess. This is Katie’s first year as the leading lady and she is getting a great reception from a very enthusiastic audience each night.

Watch out for the dramatic hot air balloon that takes to the skies on stage with a nervous crew on board. There is nothing that the backstage crew of the Deenside Players cannot turn their hands to!

Castlecomer Pantomime is a good old traditional panto with lots of jokes, singing, dancing, colour and talent. Of course there is no end to the teasing and this adds much of the comedy to the local show.

This is a show for all the family. The talent is evident in every performer of the chorus under the teaching of choreographer Michelle Wise, and the music is as always by the much-loved Ollie Hennessy of RTE along with Jimmy Byrne and Ashling Byrne.

So go along for the last three nights (and Sunday matinee ) to witness a marvellous show of Puss in Boots (Ellen Stapleton ) and enjoy a wonderful evening of music and laughter.

Leave your scruples at the door and be prepared for lots of ‘he’s behind you’ from the younger members of the audience!

Tickets are available from the box office on (056 ) 4441922. Advance booking is recommended.
