Good Tiger ready to roar

Exciting local band Good Tiger, Galway-based So Cow and Dubliners Sing Song are the latest acts to be rounded up by Problems At The Pancake House Promotions for a gig in Cleere’s Theatre this Friday evening, August 1.

The brain-child of multi-instrumentalist and former Blue Ghost Davey Holland, Good Tiger’s sound is vast and sprawling, a sort of lo-fi experiment in sound come to life.

Holland is joined by powerhouse percussionist Ger Cantwell (Gout ) and bass player Alan Montgomery (Revelino ) and songs from the group’s album, ‘The Dynamics of Alcatraz’, have already been making waves on radio through DJs Cormac Battle and Jenny Huston.

The band will also play the following weekend on Saturday, August 9, in support of Lisa Hannigan in the Parade Tower as part of the Kilkenny Arts Festival.

So Cow is the ongoing musical project of young Tuam man Brian Kelly as he continues on his quest to meld the finest classic indie-rock moves with a sprinkling. This summer sees the release of his second album, ‘I’m Siding With My Captors’.

Meanwhile Sing Song return for another Pancakes session after an intimate set as a duo at the last gig set up by the local promoters. This time around Danny and Cian will be joined by the third spoke of the Sing Song wheel, Simon.

Doors open at 9 pm in Cleere’s Theatre on Friday, August 1 and admission is €5 including a free, hand-packaged CD, so why not get the month off to a flyer?
