Funeral takes place of stab victim today

The funeral is taking place this morning (Friday ) of Michael ‘Blunt’ Brennan who was fatally injured in a stabbing incident in a house in Castlecomer on Tuesday December 30, last.

The removal took place last evening from Cody’s Funeral Home in the Square in Castlecomer to The Church of the Immaculate Conception. He will be laid to rest this morning.

Mr Brennan was stabbed by his sister Caroline Brennan (18 ) who has since been charged in connection with his death while at a house party at his uncles at Barrack Street in Castlecomer in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Mr Brennan suffered a stab wound to his upper body. Toxicology tests have also been carried out on the body to determine the cause of death which has not yet been revealed.

Caroline Brennan appeared in Kilkenny District Court on Monday last surrounded by family and friends where she received bail.

Judge William Harnett ordered that she appear before the court again on January 19 next.
