Fancy a good night out during the Christmas madness?
Well then, why not go along to Cleere’s Theatre in Kilkenny from Wednesday, December 10 to Saturday, December 13 and enjoy a performance of the Lost Weekend by Gillian Grattan.
The Lost Weekend is a play about Vanessa and Harry, a married couple who are planning a weekend away......from each other.
Vanessa is heading to Northern Ireland for a wild weekend on her younger sister's hen weekend. While Harry is just happy to be seeing the back of her and plans a night on the town with plenty of beers thrown in.
The Lost Weekend is funded by Axis Theatre, Ballymun, Dublin where it made its debut. The play opened to roaring success and now Kilkenny fans will have a chance to get in on the act when it reaches Cleere’s stage.
This is Gillian's third play but it will be the first time she's had a performace on stage in Kilkenny. She was the artistic director of Blackout Theatre Company in Coleraine and moved to Kilkenny in 2007.
This time around the play is directed by Stella Majewsky who is the artistic director of the Gaiety School in Cork. The actors - Valentina and Rafaela are both Italian and so it has been an exciting challenge for them working on this script with its Irish lingo!
Valentina and Rafaela not only play the main characters but every character in the play.
So go along, bring a friend or two as it’s sure to be a great night out!
However, if you cannot make it along to Cleere's the play will be performed on Sunday December 14 in the Bridgebrook Arms in Thomastown. Tickets will cost you €10.
