The Duiske Concerts in Graiguenamanagh finish up tomorrow night, Friday, with what promises to be a spectacular show from the group Tread.
As well as brilliant traditional musicians, the band features the dancing talents of the Canadians, Jon and Nathan Pilatzke, along with traditional Irish dancer Cara Butler, sister of Jean Butler.
The dancing Pilatzkes have been a part of The Chieftains’ show for just over five years, with Jon continuing to dazzle audiences with his ability to combine his talents on stage as a correspondingly brilliant fiddle player.
The band also features Triona Marshall on harp. Triona Marshall's playing has been described as ‘elegant and awe inspiring’.
Travelling the world with The Chieftains, for whom she has played since 2003, Triona has also absorbed a multitude of musical disciplines through her rich musical background.
Her vigourous classical harp training culminated in the post of principal harpist with the RTE Concert Orchestra, a post which exposed her to various genres from jazz to medieval, classical to modern. Out of this vast mix of musical influences has blossomed one of the finest exponents of Irish harp playing around today.
Along with fellow founders of Tread, Jon Pilatzke, Cara Butler, Nathan Pilatzke and Jef Mclarnon they explore music and dance from across the Celtic world. Tread's combination of instrument and dance thrills the audience with its vitality, passion and exuberance; their mix of elegant harp, fiery fiddle and dancing has to be seen and heard to be believed.
A very special night is in store and a great finale to a wonderful series of concerts.
