Kilkenny Bereavement Support will commence a support group for adults bereaved by suicide starting on February 28.
It will take place in Villa Maria, Talbots Inch, Freshford Road, Kilkenny at 8pm and will run for eight sessions over the next ten weeks. It will be run by two experienced facilitators.
The group aims to provide a confidential, safe and respectful space for the bereaved to talk about their experiences to others. It aims to help the bereaved to find meaning in the death, to deal with feelings of guilt and blame and to manage feelings of rejection and isolation. Participants will learn from other’s experiences how to better manage difficulties in families, birthdays, anniversaries and other significant days.
Some who are bereaved by suicide find they have special difficulties with their grief, they struggle with the question “why”, they see how members of the family grieve very differently, and they can feel isolated.
Kilkenny Bereavement Support is a voluntary organisation which was founded in 1989 to provide one to one support to people of all ages who have been bereaved recently or in the past.
If you think you would benefit from this group, please phone 056-7756538 for further details and information.
