Freebooters under-14s continued their good form with a 3-1 victory over city rivals Evergreen in Larch field, putting them in pole position in the u-14 Bennettsbridge Parts Division 1 League.
The Blues got off to a great start going a goal ahead after three minutes when Jake Maher got on the end of a Craig Hayes cross. The Blues continued to dominate for most of the half and were rewarded with a second goal when Andy Walsh played a superb pass to Craig Hayes to make it 2-0.
The second half continued in the same mode with Booters on top. Dean George was in top form in midfield backed up by the tireless efforts of Christian Lapuste.
The Blues made it 3-0 when Brian O’ Neill sent Craig Hayes through and his power and pace were just too much for the Evergreen defence. Evergreen pulled a goal back with seven minutes to go, but the Blues held out for a well deserved victory.
