Under-16 Roinn A Football final
Congratulations to the Under 16 Roinn A team who won the Duggan Steel Roinn A county final last Sunday.
This team also won the Roinn A Hurling championship this year and the double is a first for the club. The final was against the Rower-Inistioge and was a keenly-contested affair.
The ‘Boro lead at halftime by 1-2 to 0-1 in a game in which they were never behind. To their credit, the Rower came out fighting at the start of the second half, and within ten minutes had the game back to level at 1-3 each.
Hearing the wakeup call, the ‘Boro lads dug deep, slowly started to regain control, and finished deserving winners. The final score was Dicksboro 2-6, the Rower-Inistioge 1-4.

Dicksboro GAA Club AGM
The AGM was held last Friday at the clubhouse in Palmerstown.
Chairman Eddie Holohan and secretary Pat Moylan gave comprehensive reports on all the progress and activities carried out throughout 2011, and all agreed that it was a successful year for the club. Mr Holohan pointed out that we were now playing at the highest club level within the county and therefore the country, and that there was no reason why we could not savour winning something at this grade.
All volunteers who helped in any way were praised for their efforts and their continued support would be appreciated. Treasurer Seamus Rochford, gave a detailed account of the club’s finances which thankfully are in a healthy position going into 2012.
The support of Grassland Fertilizers, who sponsor the adult teams and Auteven Hospital who sponsor the juvenile and under-21 teams was acknowledged and appreciated, and the club looks forward to working with both sponsors in 2012. Finally, games chairman Frank Morrissey announced that Kieran Cuddihy had been selected as the club’s Player of the Year, and he was presented with the Patsy Lacey Perpetual Trophy by Niall Lacey.
Dicksboro Children’s Party
Santa made a special visit to Palmerstown this week, to the delight of numerous boys and girls who had gathered for the Christmas disco/party.
Each child then had an opportunity to visit Santa in his grotto, designed and made by Anne Bawle and her helpers, where they were given a small present. The grotto proved to be a magical experience and a couple of hours of fun, games and dancing made for a lot of very happy children.
A big thank you to all who helped in any way on the day.
