Camogie girls prepare to celebrate

The O’Loughlin Gaels camogie club have had an unbelievable year, in terms of on field success in 2011.

They captured the County Championships at under 14 level, under 21, and Junior B. They won the All County Junior League title, as well as the Kilkenny Junior 7s title. The Under 16s were narrowly beaten in the county final but went on later in the year and captured the CIS cup in Naas, Co Kildare.

The O’Loughlin’s Camogie club’s 20th anniversary celebration and presentation night will take place in the O'Loughlin Gaels club house tonight, December 16. 

Tickets, for what promises to be a brilliant night (with plenty of finger food and a DJ ), cost €5 and are available to purchase from the O'Loughlin Gaels’ clubhouse, Paddy Leydons bar, John Joe Cullen’s butchers, Richie Kearn's butchers, or from Gerry Buckley on 086 1642878. Of course tickets are also available at the door.

Medals will be presented to the under 14 , under 16, under 21, and junior winning teams on the night.

O’Loughlin Gaels AGM

The O’Loughlin Gaels’ GAA Club’s AGM for 2011 took place in the clubhouse on Monday December 5.

Eddie Buckley and grounds chairman Sean Tyrrell said that the new pitch development was going according to plan and that, weather permitting, it would be playable for next season. The duo also announced plans to build the ‘skills wall arena’ just to the back of the main clubhouse.

Officers elected for 2012 include chairman Mick Nolan, vice chairman Martin Hanlon, secretary Margaret Hanlon, PRO Nigel Leydon, hurling and football chairman Martin Brennan, youth chairman Bryan Skehan, handball chairman Con Moore, grounds committee chairman Sean Tyrrell, development chairman Coleman Loughnane, social chairman to include the bar and pavilion John Joe Cullen.

A new position entitled games development and policies chairperson was filled by Barry Power. Outgoing treasurer Eddie Buckley did not seek re-election and this position was not filled at the AGM. Another new position, fundraising and planning chairperson, was also not filled.

O’Loughlin Gaels’ lotto

The O’Loughlin Gaels’ lotto prize pool is still €20,000.

Tickets, costing €2, can be bought all over Kilkenny and everybody is welcome along to O’Loughlin Gaels any Tuesday night for the draw.

The draw usually takes place around 9.30pm. Make sure you have your ticket early. There are 10 consolation prizes of €40 given out each week when the jackpot is not won. The results can be seen on www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie

Juvenile Christmas party

This year's O’Loughlin's Juvenile Christmas party will take place in the club between 3pm and 5pm this Sunday, December 18.

Santa will be arriving to give all the boys and girls a present. All children who play hurling or camogie or children who are interested in playing with O’Loughlin Gaels in the future are welcome to attend. The total cost per child is only €3.
