Entries are now open for next year’s Kilkenny Triathlon, following the official launch of the 2012 TriGrandPrix Championship yesterday.
The Kilkenny-based race, which is already the fastest growing triathlon in Ireland, expects to see a 50 per cent increase in participation next year.
The 2012 TriGrandPrix Experiences will be hosted in Spain, Ireland, and France between March and October. At the end of the Championship, male and female World Champions will be announced based on a points system. The 2012 championship includes five triathlon experiences, each offering a variety of distances for professional, age group, and first time triathletes.
The first TriGrandPrix Experience of the 2012 calendar, the Valencia Long Distance Triathlon, sold out in less than two weeks, with only a limited number of places still available for overseas athletes.
“We are very proud to announce the dates and venues for the 2012 Triathlon experiences,” said Jim Breen, CEO of TriGrandPrix.
“We look forward to building on the success of the 2010 and 2011 Series with an amazing line up of triathlon experiences in iconic locations that cater for all triathletes, regardless of whether you are the world champion or brand new to the sport.”
