The Kilkenny Musical Society was well represented last week as four members took part in a Wexford production of the musical Beauty and the Beast.
The musical, staged by Wexford Musical Society, Oyster Lane theatre group, ran for a week in the Dun Mhuire Theatre during the Wexford Opera Festival. Featured were Kilkenny Musical Society’s own Fergal Miller, who played the part of Maurice, Kevin Reade played the role of Lumiere, while filling the two title roles were Declan Taylor and Emma Shore playing the part of Beast and Belle respectively.
In an upcoming event, which will showcase the depth and talent of the society, The Set Theatre, Langtons will host a Night on Broadway on November 24. The concert will feature soloists from the society, including some of those who were in Oyster Lane’s production and they will be singing a variety of numbers from such Broadway classics as Les Miserables and Phantom of The Opera.
