Men’s Action Network appoints new committee

Kilkenny’s Men’s Action Network held its AGM last Friday in the St Canice’s Community Centre, and appointed a new committee for the year ahead.

The meeting took place at the end of a good year for the group. Members were recently on a trip abroad, where they had the opportunity to socialise and see some of Europe.

“We’ve been established three years now, and we had a very successful year – we got great help from the committee,” said outgoing chairman Cha Haide.

“We had a lot of activities, trips, and games every week.”

The group elected a new committee, with Eamonn Wogan as the new chairperson, and Larry Lanigan as vice chairperson.

The new secretary with be Dorota Brennan, while Billy O’Rourke will stay on as treasurer.

The Men’s Action Network has been up and running for three years now. It provides a forum for social contact, friendship, entertainment, physical activity, and more for its members – men over the age of 50 in the Kilkenny region.

While it is based in the parish of St Canice, it is open to everyone.

‘This group is not just the Butts,” said newly-appointed vice chair Larry Lanigan.

“We are for everybody – all are welcome.”

The group meets weekly, in St Canice’s Community Centre at the Butts Green. The next meeting is this morning at 11am.

The members thanked the outgoing committee, with a special acknowledgement to Cha Haide for his time served as chairman over the past three years.
