Santa Swim comes to Kilkenny’s Watershed

The 2011 ‘Santa Swim’ in aid of The Carers Association and St Michael’s House, is to take place on November 12 and 13, in swimming pools nationwide, including Kilkenny at The Watershed.

In a bid to raise much needed funds for educational and sporting equipment for St Michael’s House and support The Carers Association’s respite hours, outreach services and National Care Line, relay groups across the county are teaming up to have a fun swim and raise funds for the two charities.

St Michael’s House is Ireland’s largest provider of community-based services for people with an intellectual disability. The Carers Association supports voluntary family carers of loved-ones who are elderly, seriously ill, people with disabilities, and children with special needs.

“We are delighted to be working with St Michael’s House on the third Santa Swim event. We urge everyone in Kilkenny to get involved in what is a fun event while raising much needed funds for The Carers Association and St Michael’s House,” said Emma Murphy, fundraising manager of The Carers Association

Both charities are urging individuals, families, friends, and clubs of Kilkenny to get involved in the event which takes place at Kilkenny’s Watershed on November 13 in Kilkenny.

The main sponsors of the Santa Swim 2011 are Unicare and Doc Morris Pharmacy.
