Rockfall fans can expect yet another weekend of great music with the annual musical extravaganza getting underway from this evening and continuing until bank holiday Monday.
Highlights of this year’s festival including Devious Theatre Company and Kilkenny Music.com who will present a night of Theatre and music in Cleere’s Theatre tonight, Friday. Screening of Shifting will take place at 8pm followed by two Band Session with Rescue Remedy and Alka Jessie.
The Hole in the Wall presents America and Back, music, songs, and stories from Ireland and America with Jim Maher, Gerry Moran, Paul Dunne, Dan Ryan, John Conroy and Jimmy Dunne. Tickets are available from Rollercoaster Record and the show kicks off at 9pm sharp.
Raging Rodeo night takes place in Biddy Early’s at 9.30. This is due to be a night of fun and there are great prizes to be won.
Saturday starts with a busking competition on the streets of Kilkenny. An early gig will be held in The Field with The Hujas at 7pm. Uptown Band are in Ryan’s while Elvis Fontenot and The Sugarbees are in The Clubhouse Hotel.
Royseven are in the Set Theatre, with The Fundamentals also appearing on that bill. Ignition are in Paris Texas and new Kilkenny band It’s Just Genetics in Egan’s. There is lots more on Saturday in Little Andy’s, Rafter Dempsey’s, Paddy Leydon’s, the Kilford Arms, Pat Carroll’s, O’Gorman’s and the Black Cat.
Sunday begins with an All Ages Gig in Desart Hall at 2pm. Seven great young bands will take to the stage including Johnny Scribble, Shiksa, Raising Cain, OB Swagger Boy, Mr Johnston, Indigo Eye, and Oridian with MC Martin Bridgeman.
A busking competition will be hosted on the streets of Kilkenny in the afternoon while The O’Dwyer Brothers are in Kyteler’s Courtyard at 6pm.
A Backdoor Blues and fancy dress night takes place in Ryan’s and a Halloween Top of the Pops night will kick off in Cleere’s Bar, while in Cleere’s Theatre The Midnight Union Band with guests Little Black Wren and Mark Stewart are on at 10pm. Memphis Cats will appear in Mc Sorley’s, The Bar Flies in The Pumphouse, Johny Jukebox in Egan’s, Tuki and The Kilo in Billy Byrne’s, Monkey Finger in Paris Texas, Man in Black in O’Gorman’s, Karaoke in Kilford Arms, and French Band Natalie Drey are making a return to The Rafter Dempsey’s.
Sunday finishes with a bang with RTE Pulse and 2FM DJ Orla Feeney sharing the bill with some of Kilkenny’s best DJs for a Halloween Special Fancy Dress Night in Pegasus nightclub at the Kilford Arms.
Over in Kytelers Top Bar (Neros ) Willie Meighans will be hosting a disco with great prizes for best fancy dress from 11pm.
A bank holiday Monday marathon gig includes 15 acts in Kytelers Courtyard starting at 3pm and finishing at midnight. Featuring Clive Barnes, Frantic Jack, Pete Fagan and the Troubadors, Brendan Keeley, The Fundamentals, The Quare Hawks, The Wig Wam Glam Band, Abbey Folk, The Mighty Ghosts of Erin, Pat Wall, Sidetracked, The Accousticats, Alize Comerford and Ferdia Bridgeman and DJ Amos. Great value at €5.
Also on Monday Stephen Murphy is in Tynan’s with host Liam Phelan spinning the Wheel at 9.30pm.
