The Saw Doctors will kick off their upcoming Irish Tour in Kilkenny at the Set Theatre this Bank-Holiday Sunday.
Following a sell-out US tour earlier this summer and a triumphant appearance at the Oxegen Festival, the Saw Doctors will begin a winter Irish tour in Kilkenny.
As well as promoting their new single, ‘Hazard’ – currently available from iTunes – and their new album, the popular Galway band will play all their big songs and favourites from the past 20 years, including Number 1 hits such as N17, I Useta Lover, Hay Wrap, and About You Now.
The Further Adventures of The Saw Doctors is the band’s seventh studio album and was recorded in Rockfield Studios in Wales and in Grouse Lodge Studios in Westmeath, under the direction of veteran UK producer Philip Tennant. Reviewing the new album in Hot Press last month, Jackie Hayden praised The Saw Doctors for “celebrating parts of real Ireland that most other bands don’t reach”.
Fronted by Tuam songwriters Davy Carton and Leo Moran, The Saw Doctors entered the record books back in September 1990 when I Useta Lover spent nine weeks at No. 1 in the Irish charts, becoming Ireland’s best selling single of all time. The Saw Doctors followed up with another No 1 hit, N17, and a chart topping album, If This Is Rock & Roll, I Want My Old Job Back, which has sold over a half a million copies since its release in May 1991.
The Galway band’s lineup features founding members Davy Carton on Vocals, Leo Moran on Guitars, along with former Waterboy Anthony Thistlethwaite on Bass Guitar and Saxaphone, Éimhín Cradock on Drums and Kevin Duffy on Keyboards and Backing Vocals.
Tickets for the Kilkenny concert by The Saw Doctors at the Set Theatre on Sunday, October 30, are currently on sale from Langton House Hotel and from the venue website.
