Minister Bruton hosts patent experts in Kilkenny

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton hosted a major European conference on patents in Lyrath Hotel Conference Centre in Kilkenny this week.

The European Patent Office (EPO ) Patent Information Conference 2011 ran from October 18 to 20 and is the biggest of its kind in Europe. It was attended by 330 patent experts from some 40 countries.

Speakers and attendees included Benoit Battistelli, president of the European Patents Office; John O’Hara, former head of Intel Ireland; Jon Orwant, Google Book Search Project; and Prof Nigel Shadbolt, initiator of the UK Open Government Project.
