Following on from its successful seminar to mark World Suicide Prevention Day in September, Lifeline Kilkenny, the support organisation for groups working in suicide prevention, is offering a limited number of places on a unique training programme.
The peer support facilitator training programme aims to train youth workers, teachers and community development workers to become facilitators within their own community to empower young people to support their peers in times of crisis.
The course is entirely free with support from ESB ElectricAid, a fund set up by ESB workers to help community groups and organisations in suicide prevention, mental health and tackling homelessness.
The course runs on the weekends of October 22–23 and November 5–6, and will take place in Desart Hall in Kilkenny. Places are limited so early booking is vital.
