Acclaimed Irish artist Jack Lukeman – aka Jack L – will play in Kilkenny’s Set Theatre on Saturday October 22.
Well known for his timeless classics such as ‘When The Moon Is High’, ‘Rooftop Lullaby’ and ‘Georgie Boy’, the Athy-born singer-songwriter is currently completing his latest tour
The genre-defying Jack L first came to prominence in 1995 with his band The Black Romantics. The band recorded the album Wax in 1995, before breaking up two years later.
Jack L then established himself as a solo artist with his live shows and his breakthrough album Metropolis Blue. In 2005, he released Broken Songs, notable for the single ‘The Man Who Couldn't Cry’.
Apart from his powerful voice, Jack L is also famed for his unique stage presence. He immediately creates a fantastic rapport with the audience who join in on choruses, clap along, and dance like nobody’s watching.
A number of high-profile appearances on RTE and a growing fan following here have become part and parcel of the Jack L experience over the last few years.
Last year he was awarded the prestigious Edinburgh Spotlight Best Music Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010 for his show A Month of Mondays. This year, he returned to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his show Chez Jack.
Earlier this year, Jack L joined forces with fellow Irish artist Julie Feeney, to present a series of radio shows on Lyric FM. Over the years, Jack L has performed with many notable acts including U2, Ronnie Wood, and Elvis Costello.
