Kilkenny’s All-Ireland-winning hurlers dominate the list of nominees for this year’s GAA GPA All-Star Hurling Awards.
Of the 45 players shortlisted overall, 14 players have been selected from Kilkenny, next to Tipperary’s 10. Dublin also have 10 players included, while Waterford have six, Limerick three, and Galway two.
David Herity received his first nomination for his goalkeeping heroics, while the other two goalkeepers included are Tipp’s Brendan Cummins and Dublin’s Gary Maguire.
Full backs Jackie Tyrrell, and Noel Hickey have been nominated, while Paul Murphy received his first nomination for an award.
Familiar faces Tommy Walsh, JJ Delaney, Brian Hogan and Michael Fennelly were all named as well.
Henry Shefflin, Richie Power, Michael Rice are also included, while Colin Fennelly receives his first nomination, with Richie Hogan, and Eoin Larkin there also.
The Player of the Month award winners from May to September were also confirmed yesterday, with Kilkenny’s Michael Fennelly winning the accolade for August, and Tommy Walsh doing so for September.
The final team of 15 players, as well as the Player of the Year award, will be announced at a banquet event on Friday, October 21 at the Convention Centre in Dublin.
