President McAleese to open Cois Abhann in Inistioge

The GAA / Community Centre in Inistioge — the Cois Abhann building — is to be officially opened by the President of Ireland Mary McAleese on Monday next September 12 at 3.30pm.

The building comprises dressing rooms for the use of Rower Inistioge GAA club as well as a range of community facilities including function room, sports hall, gymnasium and meeting room. It will be owned by the GAA club while the community facilities are to be managed by Inistioge Community Council. The project took five years in all to complete and received great support from local community organisations and individuals. It would not have been possible without financial assistance from Kilkenny Leader Partnership, the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism, Kilkenny Local Authorities and the GAA.

All are welcome to attend this momentous event in the history of the village and surrounding area. All are requested to arrive at the GAA field at 2.30pm where musical entertainment will be provided prior to the President's arrival. The building will be open for viewing after the President's visit and light refreshments will be served.

Parking will be signposted, stewards will be available to assist and the road will close for a time from 3pm so please arrive in good time.
