Three-in-a-row for Campagne

For the third year in succession, local restaurant Campagne was crowned Best Restaurant in Leinster at the prestigious Food & Wine Magazine Restaurant of the Year Awards as well as taking third place for the overall Restaurant of the Year 2011.

In scoring a hat-trick, Campagne saw off some of the top establishments in Leinster. Going on stage at the National Convention Centre to accept his award for the third successive year, Garrett Byrne and his partner Brid Hannon received a rapturous response from the event’s guests, which included the top chefs and restaurateurs in the country.

Food & Wine magazine said of Campagne’s win, “Under chef Garrett Byrne, Campagne restaurant in Kilkenny has managed to clinch the top stop for Leinster once again. Byrne offers diners sophisticated French cuisine at attractive prices – with the excellence value lunch and early bird menu drawing in the crowds. Having picked up a thing or two during his stint as head chef in Chapter One, Byrne has turned Campagne into destination dining for the city of Kilkenny.”

Speaking after the awards, chef/proprietor of Campagne, Garrett Byrne said, “this is a great honour for the whole team at Campagne who work very hard to ensure we consistently deliver a great dining experience for our guests. Our thanks go to the diners who support us throughout the year and voted for us in the Restaurant of the Year Awards and the judging panel who saw fit to give us their final decision.”
