Senior
The Village seniors are preparing for their upcoming league final encounter against Ballyhale Shamrocks.
This will be the fifth year that these two sides will meet in the league final decider. The Village will also be very focused on the more important knock out championship quarter-final which is due to be played on the weekend of September 24.
Best wishes to the squad and management team as they prepare for the championship campaign. The seniors beat Portlaoise in a recent challenge game.
Junior Final
The Village juniors lost out to Clara in the Kilkenny junior hurling league final on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-14.
They were second best to the opposition for the entire first half as the Clara men hurled the much brighter in the opening half. The Village brought the game to the opposition in the second period and when Diarmuid Cody broke through to hit a screaming shot to the back of the net the game looked to be swaying in the direction of the red and green.
Diarmuid Cody and Joe Murray was the main forwards on the night and worked very hard throughout. The Village boys will be disappointed overall as they only hurled for the second half, and had they performed over the full hour it might have been a different story.
The juniors will now turn their attention to the upcoming hurling championship campaign.

U16 Championship
Congrats to the Village U16 A squad who booked their place in the Kilkenny U16 Roinn A hurling county final after a 1-16 to 0-5 win over Erin’s Own.
This game was played under wet conditions in Ballyragget and both sides found it hard to get into any real rhythm. The Village boys worked very hard throughout and were made battle hard for every score by a determined Erin’s Own side.
The Village got some very good scores throughout from Cian Mortan, Sean Moran, Killian Cantwell and a great score from half back Luke Scanlon after a good run upfield. The final is against Dicksboro on Saturday, September 3.
