One man is understood to be recovering in hospital following a small plane crash in Mullinahone, Co Tipperary on Tuesday last.
Two men, an instructor and a student pilot were rushed to hospital after the two-seater Pegasus Quantum Microlite dropped some 2,000 feet down into a field near a wooded area at Ballyduggan, near the Tipperary-Kilkenny border at about 11.30am.
The aircraft had departed from Kilkenny Airfield on a training flight earlier on Tuesday morning.
The two injured men have been named as local man Vincent Vaughan who was instructing and Gerard Murphy, a student pilot from Cork.
Mr Murphy who is in his mid forties is still said to be in a critical condition in hospital. He was rushed to Waterford Regional Hospital by an Irish Coastguard helicopter from the scene of the crash.
Mr Vaughan suffered less serious leg injuries and was removed to Waterford by ambulance.
Gardaí from Clonmel are investigating the crash and fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.
Members on the Department of Transport's Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU ) arrived at the scene at 1.30pm and an inquiry into the incident has commenced.
The aircraft will be transferred to the AAIU's facility at Gormanston, Co Meath for further technical examination later today.
