Kilkenny are safely through to the GAA Hurling All-Ireland senior championship final for a sixth successive year and now it’s the turn of Dublin and Tipperary to battle it out for the right to join them in the final on September 4.
They meet in Croke Park on Sunday (3.30pm ) while the minor semi-final between Dublin and Waterford will open the action at 1.30pm.
Tipperary, the defending All-Ireland champions, are bidding to reach the final for a third successive year while Dublin last reached the final in 1961 where they lost to Tipperary. Dublin’s last appearance in an All-Ireland semi-final was in 1948 (they advanced directly to the final as Leinster champions in 1961 ) when they beat Antrim.
This will be Dublin’s 10th appearance in the semi-final. Their record from the previous nine is: Won 8, lost 1.
This will be Tipperary’s 31st appearance in the semi-final, having won 24 and lost six of their previous 30.
