‘Taggy’ Returns

Aidan ‘Taggy’ Fogarty returned to full training in Nowlan Park on Tuesday evening.

The flying Emeralds man played a full game at corner forward on his return from a broken ankle, which he sustained in the league almost three months ago. He signed off Tuesday nights training session with a trade mark goal.

Richie Power continues to rest his troublesome groin injury, but is expected to be ready from this weekend on. Power has recovered fully from a hip operation which kept him out of the league campaign.

JJ Delaney is also ready for full combat having sorted out a trapped nerve in his leg, which kept him sidelined since the recent round of club games.

John Tennyson continues to progress as he recovers from a second cruciate injury.

PJ Delaney has a hip operation

PJ Delaney’s year has been cut short again.

The powerful Fenians man has had to undergo surgery to repair a hip problem that has dogged his season. One of the most dedicated players in the county, Delaney appeared to be in for an extended run at different times in the team during the past three years, only for injury to intervene each time.

This year has been similar, with the Johnstown man facing four months on the sidelines following recent surgery.

All GAA followers wish him a speedy recovery.

Triple boost for the Rower Inistioge

The Rower Inistioge hope to receive a timely championship boost, with the return of United States exiles, Joe Lyng, Eoin Kavanagh, and John James Kenny at the end of next month.

The men in green and red are currently topping The Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling League Group B on scoring difference ahead of Glenmore, and look to be poised for a league final place – a title they won in 2009.

Manager Pat O’ Neill has been slowly moulding together a formidable squad, with serious championship ambitions in the Autumn. A return of this trio, and the recent return from injury of David Lyng, makes the southern club well equipped to challenge for championship honours.

Lisdowney Sevens

The Lisdowney Coca Cola Hurling Sevens has an early start this Saturday morning, as players swing into action at 10am.

It is the 30th year of the tournament, and its popularity continues to grow. Over 30 teams from Kilkenny, Tipperary, Laois, Kildare and Galway will compete for honours.
