Junior Bs qualify for championship semi-final
The O' Loughlin Gaels Junior B team progessed to the Northern semi-final after a 1-12 to 0-9 victory over Danesfort in Bennettsbridge last Friday night.
Danesfort started the better, and but for two great saves from Benny Cleere in the O' Loughlins goal in the first ten minutes, the city side could have been in deep trouble. Danesfort led at the break, after playing with the strong breeze.
A great last quarter by O’ Loughlins meant they went in just a point in arrears. Among the scorers for O' Loughlins were Barry Hogan, David Broderick and Cyril Stedmond.
O' Loughlins started the second half in determined fashion, and were ahead after five minutes. However a resilient Danesfort came back into the game, and it wasnt until a James O' Keeffe goal with ten minutes to go before the result was finally sealed.
Micheal Twomey, Mark Croghan, Kevin Morrissey, Barry Hogan and Andy Cantwell were O' Loughlins best performers on the night. O' Loughlins next fixture is the county league final against Conahy Shamrocks on today (Friday ) in Castlecomer at 7.30pm.
