Kilkenny Arts Festival opens its doors

The official opening of the Kilkenny Arts Festival’s new festival box office, located at 93 High Street, (next door to Paris Texas ) took place on Monday morning.

Local musician, Laoise O’Brien was on hand to cut the ribbon and declare the box office open for business.

The Kilkenny Arts Festival will take place from August 5 – 14. With another stellar programme in place, boasting the very best in national and international visual art, classical music, theatre and dance, jazz, world and traditional Irish music, literature, film, indie music, craft and children’s events, art lovers can look forward to another 10 day cultural feast with more than 100 events taking place across the Marble City.

With a brand new location right in the heart of the city and a dedicated box office team headed up by Cathy Hogan, they are ready and waiting to help with any ticketing queries in coming weeks in the lead-up to the festival.

Speaking at the official launch, Damian Downes, CEO says: “We are very excited about the new location of our festival box office this year. It is always our aim to make the festival as accessible as possible to the people of Kilkenny, and with our new premises on 93 High Street and our friendly box office staff on hand again this year, we hope to make it even easier for our local audience to drop in and book their tickets. The team has worked very hard to produce another outstanding programme this year and we look forward to welcoming our local audiences back to the festival as well as those international visitors making the trip to Kilkenny.”

The Kilkenny Arts Festival stands out from other arts festivals with its unique programming dynamic of eight cultural curators. Working together with Damian Downes they are all leading artists and practitioners in their areas of expertise, and this specialist knowledge is apparent in all corners of the programme.
