There were great celebrations at National Lottery offices today as a family group of three from Kilkenny picked up their Lotto jackpot win of €2 million from last night’s draw. The delighted group bought their lucky ticket in Londis in St James’ Hospital, Dublin 8. They were visiting a relative at the time.
“We’ve been playing Lotto for years,” said one of the happy winners. “But we’ve never won much. I can’t believe we’re here. It feels like a dream.”
The lucky group member who purchased the €4 Quick Pick winning ticket watched the draw live on RTÉ One. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” she said. “I ticked off each number as it came tumbling out of the drum – one after another. I sat there in stunned silence I was so shocked.”
The group, who wish to remain anonymous, currently have no plans for the win. They hope to take some time out over the coming weeks before making any big decisions.
Londis in St James’ Hospital has been a lucky spot for Lotto players. In June 2006 a lucky player who bought a ticket there won a jackpot of over €1.8 million.
Saturday’s jackpot will be a guaranteed €2 million.
