Good news for the local road network in north east Kilkenny has arrived through the Restoration Improvement Supplementary Funding 2011.
Some 1,500m is to be restored from Ballymartin Cross to Byrnesgrove at a cost of €146,287, while also included is a spend of €97,500 on 1,000m from Timberoe Cross to Currans Cross on the Lower Old Road, Moneenroe.
Cllr Maurice Shortall says an additional €70,000 is to be spent carrying out necessary drainage on both roads prior to the restoration.
“Drainage is imperative before re-surfacing at all times and ultimately will give better value for money in what are challenging economic times,” noted Cllr Shortall.
