Freebooters Annual U10 Mini World Cup for the Tommy Hayes Memorial Trophy was held in Scanlon Park over the weekend. Thomastown Utd were the overall winners of the tournament for the second year in a row. Thomastown beat the surprise team of the tournament, Freebooters’ u9s, 2-0 in the final to retain the trophy.
Player of the tournament went to Southend’s Eoin Cody. Thomastown Captain Colin Hayes received the trophy from Robert Hayes, son of the late Tommy Hayes.
The organisers would like to thank all teams who participated; Freebooters, Southend Utd, Thomastown Utd, Bridge Utd and Evergreen. Thanks also to all parents who supplied food and snacks for the tournament. All money raised will be donated to St Mary's Day Care Centre in the Fairgreen.
