Clive brings music to your ears

If you haven’t been to a Clive Barnes gig — now is your chance and be assured that this is an opportunity not to be missed.

From the Happy Valley Festival with new Kilkenny band, Souls to a solo gig at Temple House Festival in Sligo, Clive Barnes is certainly in full gigging mode! There is just one day to go before the Wexford native plays an intimate gig at the Hole In The Wall in Kilkenny on Saturday June 25 and this will be the perfect venue for this talented guitar-playing genius.

Clive’s most recent album ‘The Ghost Country’ sums up the sounds the highly regarded musician makes in a nutshell.

Clive’s lap steel guitar is just one reason to go along to this gig — audiences will be treated to this performer’s wealth of talent on several types of guitars but the lap guitar is something special.

Having recently played the 25 Songs for Chernobyl gig where he was greeted with rapturous applause from an astounded audience, Clive has long been acknowledged as a natural and skilled performer and along with his proficiency on guitar, his easy-going, quirky personality add another element to an already awesome gig.

Clive has toured the US and Europe extensively over the years with the likes of Jeff Beck, Alison Krauss, Seasick Steve and The Blind Boys of Alabama. Barnes is regarded as one of the finest performers on the roots circuit.

Support on the night is from fellow Wexford musician Johnny Stewart. Tickets are €10 and available from Rollercoaster Records Kieran St Kilkenny. Tel: 056 77 63669. Doors open at 8.30pm sharp. www.facebook.com/hole-in-the-wall
