Corrigan cooks at Campagne

Larger-than-life renowned chef Richard Corrigan will be in Kilkenny next week to headline a special dining event at local restaurant Campagne to celebrate its recent award from the Restaurant Association of Ireland of Best Restaurant in Leinster and mark the popular eatery’s fourth year in business.

Meath-born Corrrigan, who is the star of RTE’s Corrigan Knows Food and chef/proprietor of London restaurants Bentley’s, Mayfair & the Michelin-starred Lindsay House, will preside as guest chef over a five-course dinner at Campagne on Tuesday night (June 21 ).

Cooking alongside Corrigan will be chef/proprietor of Campagne Garrett Byrne. The event, which marks the first time Corrigan and Byrne have shared a kitchen, has proven to be a social media hit. The Corrigan/Byrne dinner was announced via Twitter and Facebook only and tables were quickly booked by Campagne’s social media followers. Only a handful of places remain for the event

Speaking to the Kilkenny Advertiser, Richard Corrigan said, “I’m really looking forward to next Tuesday and it will be lovely to be in Kilkenny again. I greatly admire Garrett’s cooking which is inspired and demonstrates a great respect for the provenance and seasonality of food. I promise Kilkenny diners that they are in for a treat”.

Richard Corrigan achieved a Michelin star in 1998 and has been awarded many other culinary accolades, including Outstanding London Chef at the London Restaurant Awards. Alongside appearances on BBC2’s Full on Food, Saturday Kitchen and Market Kitchen, Richard has prepared lunch for, amongst others, the Queen, Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street and the King & Queen of Jordan. He was crowned winner of the Great British Menu no less than three times and was winner of BBC1’s Great British Waste Menu special, which culminated in a dinner at the House of Lords. His Mayfair restaurant has been awarded ‘AA London Restaurant of the Year’

“This summer marks Campagne’s fourth year in business. We have a great team of 17 staff and since opening, have received many accolades including, more recently, Best Restaurant in Leinster. We wanted to put on a very special dining event to mark these milestones and Richard Corrigan is one of the greatest chefs of his generation”, said Garrett Byrne, chef/proprietor, Campagne.
