A Kilkenny teacher is off to Africa as part of a group of volunteers providing IT training during July and August.
Isabel Rodriguez Healy will take part in the programme being run by Camara an Irish registered charity which provides IT equipment and training for schools in Africa.
However, Isabel must raise €2,800 before she departs and in order to help her achieve this target, Conahy Shamrocks GAA club is holding a Cabaret at the Jenkinstown venue on this Sunday, May 5 at 9pm.
All are invited to come along to the event which is expected to be a great night’s entertainment. All funds raised will go to the worthy cause.
Each summer, Camara sends volunteers to seven African countries to train local teachers in technology in the classroom.
Isabel, who is from Clara and teaches at Askea, NS in Carlow is travelling to Kenya where she will teach IT skills to teachers in Camara supported schools.
